Dad Need a Cool Phone Case?

While talking with a buddy at a cars and coffee, my cell phone rang. Not that this was unusual, but my friend spied my phone. He asked where I had gotten the cell case. I replied I print them off my photo site and gave him a card. I guess if it's worth putting phone to ear, it's worth doing it in style. I've just added some new phones cases to my site, and it will only take a minute or two to find one just for you. And there is no better time other than right now to do it. I even have them for the "iphone 11." Here's the link to where to find these and many more: https://www.johnstraubimageworks.com/p166727666

Eye Candy....

Hi all, like all of you, I've been home watching a little too much Netflix. I miss the days of getting out and shooting. Just the idea of a road trip seems like a long ago dream.

Well the latest news is the show "Mission Federal ArtWalk" here in San Diego that I have been looking forward to, has been delayed until November 7-8. What can I say...?

However, I do want to share with you one of my new images. It's called, "Underbelly." This is an image of bottom of a original 1967 Porsche 911R. There were 23 of these built to race in International events and they had 50 hp more than the standard 911S and were at least 350 pounds less with the use of lite weight panels. It was considered the ultimate 911 weapon at the time.

So there you have it, "Underbelly" done as a 24"x 24" double float infused on gloss metal with the custom brushed metal backing at 28"x 28". The print sets off the backing by a half inch. This is the "Artist Proof #1" and is signed and numbered with a certificate of authenticity, wired and ready to hang. This is the perfect eye candy for your room.  Shipping in the US is included at, $775.

It's That Time of Year

Dear Friends,

Here at John Straub Image Works worldwide headquarters (Big Grin), things are pretty hectic. Recovering from back surgery, getting some last minute orders shipped, and trying to set some time aside to work on a few new images, has been challenging. Before the big day arrives, I wanted to thank you for opening these emails, buying art from me and saying nice things to me when we meet. Art is always cool, but it's always the people I meet and talk to at the end of the day, that makes it special.

Happy Holidays, a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year to you all!!

Saturday Rocked...

Hi all,

Just a short recap on the Porsche Club/San Diego Region "Pop-up" show.

It's always fun to do one of these, especially if its with friends in attendance. This past Saturday rocked, so a big "Thank You" to all that came out visiting my booth! It also goes without saying, a special "Thank You" to those of you that found a cool piece of art to take home, like the limited edition, "Revs-Up!" Thank You!

I believe this will be my last show of the year, giving me some time to get out and capture some images. So, stay tuned for more to come next year, starting off with the L.A. Lit Meet where I'll have two tables with some new images.

PS. As always, a big "Thank You" to my wife, Monique who many of you have met or know and is always by my side helping me with these shows!

Somewhere North of Tucson

West or east of almost everywhere else in the southwest desert town, I found this truck rooted outside a bar. It drew me inside like a moth to light to inquire. An old jukebox poured out a lonesome song. that makes you yearn for honest, simple things. Things you can't even name. Well, on the other hand,
maybe the honest patina on the heat vents of my image named, "Survivor."

This is a 16"x 24" gloss print infused onto metal and custom made re-purposed barn wood frame. It's wired, ready to hang, and be enjoyed! It can be yours for $450 including shipping here in the US.

The Wild One

Before the Porsche Factory "Hopped-up" street cars of today emerged, there were 356 Gmund coupes that left a fledgling factory.

Driving these aluminum machines was a new kind of rebel here in the US. Some were young men coming back from the war that were seeking a new kind of sports car. Others joined from a new generation coming of age to a Rock and Roll beat, and breaking more rules than just the speed limit. The Gmund coupes were the start of this being raced in Europe and State Side. This is one of those cars, meet "No Tires Today."

BTW. this was Jerry Seinfeld's car used in the TV production of "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee."

This is a 16"x 24" gloss print infused onto metal and custom made repurposed barn wood frame. It's wired, ready to hang, and be enjoyed! It can be yours for $450 including shipping here in the US.

Jewels of Detroit

What could be better than seeing your art go to a collector, and then getting a photo of it hanging in his office! Meet the collection of, Wayne Nentwig of "Gem City Motors" in Sidney, Montana. Wayne is the owner of a Buick/Chevrolet/GMC Dealership and an avid car guy. During a Barrett-Jackson show he and his wife made their way into my booth and fell in love with four of my limited edition prints infused onto metal. I love it when an art collector is born, and makes life a more beautiful place to live or work!

Remember, when your world looks good...you look good...the better you look the better you feel...

Fine Art Photography to Me?

If you look up "Fine Art" here's what you get. "Creative art, visual art, whose products are to be appreciated primarily or solely for their imaginative, aesthetic, or intellectual content."

So what does that mean? To me, it means a photographer can modify an image the way Ansel Adams transformed his images in the dark room. Compare that with an automotive or wildlife image that may be taken for a magazine. That has more of a journalistic purpose.

I want my photos to be appreciated for the way they look. So with Fine Art Photography, anything goes just as with the two images below, the original and finished.

I've always wanted to do a drag racing image that showed movement and action close up. You can just imagine the sound of a dragster at the point the butterflies are cracked open sucking massive amounts of air, and the power is laid down.  Meet "Deep Throat" This is a new image that is available printed on photographic paper, available in several sizes on my website at this link: https://www.johnstraubimageworks.com/p175506786

Rev's Up... Porsche Spyder

The Porsche Spyder, arguably the first car purpose-built for the race track by the manufacturer. A classic style, made with hand formed aluminum, and served up fresh in 1953, powered by the awesome four cam engine.

Imagine sitting behind the wheel, watching the tach climb, as you rocket down the track with this new print!

The "Rev's Up" archival gloss print is 16"x 24" infused into metal with the double float mounting that I use for my limited editions of 30. This is the "Artist Proof #1" with an elegant style that never dies.

You can live the dream for $595 plus shipping.

Mission Federal ArtWalk Has Arrived

One of my favorite shows to do is here. "Mission Federal ArtWalk" held in the bustling community of Little Italy in San Diego. How can I go wrong with the aroma of fresh made Italian food drifting through my booth for two full days! However, the real reason I love doing this show, is I get to talk to so many people about my photography.

This year I'm showing "Trains, Planes, and Automobiles" with a few "Trailers" thrown in for good luck.  All of the info is on the flyer, so come see me, say hi, and just maybe find something you can't live without.

One hint: take the trolley and it stops a half a block away from India and Cedar where I'm located.

The Caddy...

I have not scoured the entire globe, nor the entire internet, nor that perilous void know as the dark web, to find its equal, but I have done some looking. This Caddy just spoke to me, so it had to be put into print.

Here's your monthly calendar to cut and post on a surface of your choosing...

So be sure to stop by at the Ritz-Carlton and say hi for me, I'll be hanging in San Diego getting ready for some of my shows coming up.

PS. The image in the middle of the display is from my, German Essence Gallery.

"Rev's Up"...

The glory of simplicity. The hand sculpted look of bare aluminium on the dash of a Porsche Spyder has a spiritual feel when you see it in person. What eyes have seen the sweep hand rocket upwards in the heat of battle? One can only wonder and dream. You too can wonder anytime you want with this image called, "Rev's Up."

Its available in deck top size to poster size in archival paper prints off my site, or a "Limited Edition" image infused onto metal. Imagine having this for your office or man cave!

Here's the link to see it on my site for paper or contact me directly for metal. "Rev's Up"

Be Authentic

Some things are meant to shake all the coolness out of you. If you're like me while working on my car, you bend over to pick up a widget and your cell phone launches out of your shirt pocket and ricochets off your car landing on the floor. Sure enough, there's a dent in the corner of the phone. Does this sound familiar? It happens to all of us, so I decided to do something about it.

Outfit your cell phone with one of my custom phone cases printed with a multitude of my classic photographs. Your mobile is the coolest of electronic dapper duds and is your link to the outside world, save the dents and show it some appreciation, deck it out, and wow your buddies!

#BeAuthentic
