Time For Some Thanks

I always try to look at things in a positive light. After all my art shows being cancelled this year, my on-line orders have never been stronger! So, I try to look at it as one of the best years of my life. As with you, we all faced challenge after challenge, we adapted, and we have overcome for the most part. 2020 has forced us to grow exponentially. I try not to take that for granted. One of the things Monique and I did this year was sale our house for 15 years and move to a new home. I now have a new work space that I love in our home to produce my art (See photo). So, Thanks to all of you that follow me here, your support is really appreciated! Again....THANK YOU!

I wish you all a very Happy Holiday and Merry Christmas! Please say safe, my friends!

Rising To The Top

 Hi all,

Sometimes there's events that we attend and the best way to describe them as the "The Cream rises to the top."

Luftgekuht (Air-Cooled) was one of them in 2019 before all this craziness happened. For those of you that have not gone or heard of it before, it celebrates the Porsche air cooled cars with a special show once a year. These cars were made from the beginning in 1949 to the last one in 1998 (Liquid cooled there after). For the Porsche enthusiasts, they hold a special place in their hearts. The 2019 show held in the back lot of Universal Studios with over 6000 in attendance and 600 cars in the show, the high-lite was the awesome Porsche 917 set in front of a vintage movie theater.

I shot this image as a remembrance of that special day at Luftgekuht. It's available in different sizes printed on archival photo paper suitable for framing. You can find it on my website at the following link. Check it out.

Look Stylish...

 Hi all,

I don't know about you, but I try to live in "Tee Shirts".... I don't think it's just a California thing. I see friends at car events always sporting something that says what they like.  So for me, I try to wear shirts that give me joy when I put them on.

I'm not sure if you've had a chance to check out my "Market Place Store" with all kinds of cool stuff. My wife's art is also on there, so take some time and pay a visit. How knows, you may find just the thing you're looking for. Time to get some coolness on....

Moving on with Change...

Hi all,

Part of being happy is coming to grips with change. Today is not like yesterday and the way things are changing day to day, tomorrow will be unlike today. For me, I have no shows scheduled, which is totally new terrain for me. Thank goodness I've had a strong on-line presents with Facebook and Instagram way before all this happened. I was kinda steering it that way which leads me to this deal.

I've decided to put some of my most popular prints on my "Hot Buys" gallery on my website. The classic steering wheels. You can feel the power, beauty, speed, color and movement in them. Take some time and check them out. This gallery offers 20% listed prices when go to check out and use the code."Hot Buys."

Constructive Solitude

As we sit, it seems as though time has stood still. I hope this post finds you well and when you must go out, stay safe.

Despite the desire for all this to be in the rear view mirror, the reality is dependent upon a wide variety of factors. I'm still looking forward to showing at the "Laguna Art-A-Fair" in July/August and at "Automobilia Monterey" in August. However, just a few days ago I received notice the the "Pebble Beach Councour" was reset till next year. My guess is, "Automoblia" well follow now. So, at this point, I really don't know if those shows will happen or not, but I would still like to look forward and hope.

For me in daily life, Monique and I have been sheltering-in-place trying to do our part and help out. I also seem to be circling the refrigerator like a shark. How about you? The other night I did sneak out and get some shots of a lonely gas station at a late hour. That's a story all in itself when the law
showed up with blue and yellow lights flashing and asking me what I was up to. My reply, "Just being constructive and getting some art shots with no cars around." It was all good, they just looked at me like I have lost a isolation marbles.

Stay safe all...

Working at Home

Hi all, it seems life has changed for all of us. Most important, God bless our "First Responders" that need to deal with all of this!

For me, I've had it easy compared to them. If you have noticed I have not been doing many posts in the last month or two. The only thing that I've been dealing with, is having both my computers go down with access to my images with no hope to get them up and running for some time. As you read this, I'm limping along on my laptop which also is not at it's best. This brings me to my point of working at home with a computer.

I'm doing a "Work From Home Art Promotion" to help you customize art for your work-at-home space. On my website I have a gallery called, "Monthly Hot Buys" and the images in that gallery are 20% off the listed prices. If you find an image in that gallery, it can be ordered by clicking on it and in final checkout in the coupon code area use the two words, Hot Buys. Then "Presto" a lower price!

Here is just an example of one of the images in the gallery. You can relive the Porsche event "LUFTGEKUHLT 6" with this classic Porsche 917 image.

Nightwatch...

Hi all,

I'm excited to announce the release of my newest image, "Nightwatch."

This is one of those images I started in my booth last summer at the "Laguna Art-A-Fair". See, when I do these shows, I'm the only one manning my space, and interacting with patrons during the day. I sit there in my chair working with Photoshop on my computer, and it's, work, talk, work, talk, and sale a print or two. The hours whizz by, but sometimes I don't get too far on the image, so this one was just finished in my studio in the last few days.

Offered in different sizes on my website as photo paper prints, or you can have the first pint, infused onto metal as a 16"x 24" hand signed and framed in a barn wood frame, for $450 including the shipping. If you would like to get the first one you can order it here.

"Canned Casa"

I'm excited to announce the release of my newest print, "Canned Casa."

This is one of my images that I started several months ago. As things go, other things always come into play, like finding the right background, the right sky, and the time to put it all together along with going through back surgery. This is one of those images that I think does what all art should; they affect how the viewer see things. Your mind will fill in the gaps. What do you think?

The print infused onto gloss metal comes custom framed in a "Barnwwood " frame. Offered in two sizes, hand-numbered, signed, and wired ready to hang and enjoy. Size one is a 16"x 24" and size two is a 24"x 36."

The introductory prices in include shipping here in the US. Can I ship one to you?

16"x 24", $450
24"x 36", $750

Road Trip

The idea of taking a few weeks off in the airstream sounds good, doesn't it? Take the dog, have someone watch the cats. See whats's going on in Zion. Take photos in Bryce Canyon. Lose yourself a bit. You're allowed. OK, not in my image named "Solitude," but you can always dream....

This is a 16"x 24" gloss print infused onto metal and custom made re-purposed barn wood frame. It's wired, ready to hang, and be enjoyed! It can be yours for $450 including shipping here in the US.

Things That Have Power

Discerning people want things that are hard to find, have power and are different. Things that have romance and mystery, but a factual mystery, about them. When I told the story of my framed image at "Laguna Art-A-Fair" to this young family of Tony and Tanya looking for their first art purchase for their new home, they fell in love with it. It's so captivating, the expression of their little one looking over the frame. Makes my heart sing just looking at it.

One big "Thank You" to all that signed up for my email list at the "Laguna Art-A-Fair" and came by to say hi!

John

Somewhere North of Tucson

West or east of almost everywhere else in the southwest desert town, I found this truck rooted outside a bar. It drew me inside like a moth to light to inquire. An old jukebox poured out a lonesome song. that makes you yearn for honest, simple things. Things you can't even name. Well, on the other hand,
maybe the honest patina on the heat vents of my image named, "Survivor."

This is a 16"x 24" gloss print infused onto metal and custom made re-purposed barn wood frame. It's wired, ready to hang, and be enjoyed! It can be yours for $450 including shipping here in the US.

The Stuff Dreams Are Made Of

Kicking in the time machine door and thinking back. It could have been used for trips to see Mount Rushmore, maybe a trip to the Salton Sea, or the back woods for a trout fishing outing. Was it a family haven from everyday work and school for the kids? Was it towed behind an oversized Caddy, a "Four hole" Buick, or the everyday work truck? We will never know, but we can dream of those days long gone when this trailer was the king of the road.

This is a new image from my trailer series. It includes the classic Airstream called "Solitude," and the small canned ham trailer image called "Hormel." Looking closely you can make out the barely visible name painted on the side. It was wearing the appropriate name of, " Spartan Mansion." So, who am I to take that name away from its past glory.

I present to you "Spartan Mansion."

A Spiritual Experience

Main street in "My Town."

An unmistakable sound rises above the bluster. Mighty. Spiritual. Literally. At least to a little kid in my make believe world with my train set sharing space in the family garage. The locomotive passed  through the crossing on said street. Yep, I have been fascinated with trains from an early age, starting with an "American Flyer" moving on to "HO."

When I spotted this engine no far off the road in the middle of nowhere, something said, "You've got to capture this." I hoofed it about a mile when the black top ended down a dirt road with camera, tripod, and other gear, with the oncoming storm moving in.

So, I present, "Loco Grande."

It's going to be one of my featured images at the "Mission Federal ArtWalk" April 27-28 and the "Laguna Art-A-Fair" this summer.

It is infused onto metal as a 24"x 36" with a classic barn wood frame, and it's ready to go if you can't wait. Shoot me an email and say, "I've got to have this!"
