Time to Move On

2020 to 2021, it's time to move on! I'm sure we'll all agree, it's time...

I would like to say your support this past year is really appreciated. With all my shows canceled, many of you were on my website and ordered photo paper prints, others ordered the custom limited edition metal prints, and still others ordered "Print on demand produces" like shirts, mask, phone cases, and canvas prints. Thank You!

I don't say this lightly, I couldn't make this crazy photography journey of cars and art without your support.

Here is to the best New Year yet! May it bring you all the happiness you deserve! I hope to see you at a show this coming year or at where my art is represented, Forest and Ocean Gallery in Laguna, or Veloce Motors The Vault Miramar in San Diego. Keep the Faith, my friends!

Do I Hate Letting an Original Go?

Sold! This is my "Happy to sale an original, but sorry to see it go" post. With all this social distancing stuff going on, this one called, "Fireworks" was delivered to a collector in a Target parking lot.

One of my not so publicized botanical prints on canvas. I do these as "One off's" just for fun. So yes, these originals I'm sorry to see them leave. But, it's going to a good home!

I'll have some big news coming up at the beginning of November about a gallery I've been asked to show my art in, more on that later. So, stay safe my friends and start getting heady for the Holidays!

Time Well Spent...

 Hi all,

With no shows for most of this year, I've been very lucky to have collectors calling me for projects. Some have had me working on their images for a print, others calling me for commissions, and yet others calling me with request for images to fit a special place in their home. So, for me I've been very lucky! I've had the ability to live with art during this period.

Which leads me to living with art is an undeniably enriching and emotional experience. I've been able to do it daily, if not with a camera, but then, on a computer creating. For example this commission. Cathy will be selling her car and wanted a shot of her and the car for remembrance. You ask, why the San Diego Stadium in the background and why the driving suite? Well, Cathy has been successfully racing her car for many years on tracks and got her start racing in the Stadium parking lot. That stadium will be torn down in the next two years. That's why this location.

You'll see how everything looked out of the camera with weeds, handicap parking signs, ugly paving, needing a new tree, and a better sky. As a fine art photographer I'm genuinely interested in the art of it all, especially in the finished piece.

Who are these Masked People...

 Hi all,

It's the sign of the times, everyone walking around with masks on. I'm sure your doing it too, as well as me... But, do you do it with "Art" on your mask? That is the question. And if not, why not?

Both my wife's very cool art, as well as mine are on masks that we have in our store. And we know you'll find something you'll like to keep you safe. These are two of our cool customers sporting two of my images available doing a selfie. Therefore to answer that question, why not have some awesome art on your mask when you head out? So, without hesitation, make sure to check it out at this link: https://monique-straub-studio.myshopify.com/

Dog Days...

Hi all,

Hope you're staying safe as we enter the "Dog Days" of summer. The definition: The hot, sultry days of summer. They were historically the period following the rising of the star system Sirius, which Hellenistic astrology connected it with heat, drought, sudden thunderstorms, fever, and mad dogs.

Speaking about dogs, the image below is from Rick and Lois and their little, Putter. They're two of my awesome collectors!  Rick emailed me and asked if I could print an image of their beautiful car being built at the Porsche factory and produce it just like my "Limited Edition" prints on metal. I said sure. The trick is, the image was only a low res file. To print it the sizes they were looking for took some work in Photoshop to upside and then clean it up all the unwanted pixels. After it was shipped out to them, they sent me this cool image of the print.

PS. It doesn't look like Putter is too mad, but rather pretty content!

Thanks, guys!

John

Moving on with Change...

Hi all,

Part of being happy is coming to grips with change. Today is not like yesterday and the way things are changing day to day, tomorrow will be unlike today. For me, I have no shows scheduled, which is totally new terrain for me. Thank goodness I've had a strong on-line presents with Facebook and Instagram way before all this happened. I was kinda steering it that way which leads me to this deal.

I've decided to put some of my most popular prints on my "Hot Buys" gallery on my website. The classic steering wheels. You can feel the power, beauty, speed, color and movement in them. Take some time and check them out. This gallery offers 20% listed prices when go to check out and use the code."Hot Buys."

Through all this slow down, glad to say I've had the opportunity to do some commission work as well as "JohnStraubImageWorks" on-line keeping me busy.

If you get the magazine, it's in the latest issue, if not you can pick one up at your local magazine stand. Here are a few shots to share with you, the first being the cover which was done in the elevator to bring the cars down and up. Check this out!

And subscribe to GSM if you don't get it...cool stuff!

Don't forget I'm always adding new images to my website, check it out. www.JohnStraubImageWorks.com

Working at Home

Hi all, it seems life has changed for all of us. Most important, God bless our "First Responders" that need to deal with all of this!

For me, I've had it easy compared to them. If you have noticed I have not been doing many posts in the last month or two. The only thing that I've been dealing with, is having both my computers go down with access to my images with no hope to get them up and running for some time. As you read this, I'm limping along on my laptop which also is not at it's best. This brings me to my point of working at home with a computer.

I'm doing a "Work From Home Art Promotion" to help you customize art for your work-at-home space. On my website I have a gallery called, "Monthly Hot Buys" and the images in that gallery are 20% off the listed prices. If you find an image in that gallery, it can be ordered by clicking on it and in final checkout in the coupon code area use the two words, Hot Buys. Then "Presto" a lower price!

Here is just an example of one of the images in the gallery. You can relive the Porsche event "LUFTGEKUHLT 6" with this classic Porsche 917 image.

Check out that gallery at: JohnStraubImageWorks.com

Time For a Sale

Hi all,

Normally this time of year, I'm gearing up for shows, and enjoying interacting with many of you in person, however shows are dropping left and right. What to do? I thought I would spread some love today. If you don't know, I normally sale on line, and to boost this I'm offering a 10% discounts on all photo paper orders over $50. How's that sound? All the galleries on my site are available for the discount, except: New Releases and Cell Phone Cases.   The "Code" available to use in checkout through March 31 is: Thankyou2020.

Commission Images

Hi all, well I've been busy working on some commission images for clients. This, one of them. Bill, had seen one of my automotive framed images at the "Laguna Art-A-Fair" last year and decided to add it to his collection. Well, not to make a short story long, but Bill had this cell phone photo that he had taken of one of his cars and wanted to know if I could work some magic. The challenge, clean it up and make it printable just like the one he had purchased from me. I'm always open to a challenge, and said, send it to me.

Well, here's the before and after. Taking unwanted reflections out, a licence plate off, adding blue sky, making the the image including the car pop more, bringing out the "Carrera Scrip" and increasing the resolution. He'll now be adding another 16"x 24" this to his collection. So if you have a photo of your car and you would like to have it infused onto metal, let me know. I'll say yep, I can do something with it or no not really. But, it's always worth a try.

Nightwatch...

Hi all,

I'm excited to announce the release of my newest image, "Nightwatch."

This is one of those images I started in my booth last summer at the "Laguna Art-A-Fair". See, when I do these shows, I'm the only one manning my space, and interacting with patrons during the day. I sit there in my chair working with Photoshop on my computer, and it's, work, talk, work, talk, and sale a print or two. The hours whizz by, but sometimes I don't get too far on the image, so this one was just finished in my studio in the last few days.

Offered in different sizes on my website as photo paper prints, or you can have the first pint, infused onto metal as a 16"x 24" hand signed and framed in a barn wood frame, for $450 including the shipping. If you would like to get the first one you can order it here.

It's That Time of Year

Dear Friends,

Here at John Straub Image Works worldwide headquarters (Big Grin), things are pretty hectic. Recovering from back surgery, getting some last minute orders shipped, and trying to set some time aside to work on a few new images, has been challenging. Before the big day arrives, I wanted to thank you for opening these emails, buying art from me and saying nice things to me when we meet. Art is always cool, but it's always the people I meet and talk to at the end of the day, that makes it special.

Happy Holidays, a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year to you all!!

No kidnapping here....

Hi all,

I've been off-line for several weeks now, no I didn't get kidnapped. After dealing with a some pain in my back for 3-4 years now, I decided to go under the knife. Back surgery.... All went well, however I can't sit at a computer for any length of time yet. Hence, no post. But, here is one small framed canvas image I do have available to go out that I hand glazed. Looks pretty cool, like it was hand painted. Check it out, named, Le Mans.

The size of the print is 8"x 8" and the total size of the frame is, 10 1/4"x 10 1/4" perfect for small spaces! It's only, $75. That also includes shipping in the US. It's signed, wired, ready to hang, and enjoy. How can you pass this up! And please forward this offer to your friends, if you think they may be interested!

The Porsche 908

What's so good about this Porsche image is what it is not.

It's not this weeks latest cloned race car.

It's the real thing: the actual Porsche 908 that was actually raced by Vic Elford and Jochen Neerpasch at Spa in 1968. That was days past. As you look at it today, it gives you the feeling that it's moving, even setting still. Wouldn't you love to own it? You can, and look at it every day.

This is the "Artist Proof #1"...a 24"x 24" print infused onto metal with my classic metal backing for "Limited Editions."  Don't pass it up, it's sure to be snatched up by someone for their art collection.
It's signed, wired, ready to hang, and be enjoyed for $795 including shipping in the US. Meet, "High-Five!"
